Anon (Ólkyrr) 1II/4 — valda

Varði ógnarorðum
Ôláfr ok friðmôlum
jǫrð, svát engi þorði
allvalda til kalla.

Ôláfr varði jǫrð ógnarorðum ok friðmôlum, svát engi allvalda þorði kalla til.

Óláfr defended the country with words of threat and peace talks, so that no mighty ruler dared to lay claim to [it].

[4] ‑valda: ‑valdr H, Hr

[3, 4] engi allvalda ‘no mighty ruler’: Lit. ‘none of mighty rulers’. Allvalda is gen. pl. (‘of mighty rulers’), partitive gen. to engi (m. nom. sg.) ‘no, none’.
