ÞjóðA Sex 24II/3 — hugr ‘courage’

Áræðis naut eyðir
aldyggr Selundbyggva;
hugr ræðr hǫlfum sigri
— Haraldr sannar þat — manna.

Aldyggr eyðir Selundbyggva naut áræðis; hugr manna ræðr hǫlfum sigri; Haraldr sannar þat.

The most excellent destroyer of Sjælland-dwellers [= Haraldr] deployed his valour; men’s courage determines half the victory; Haraldr is the proof of that.

[3, 4] hugr manna ‘men’s courage’: So also most eds. It would also be possible to take sigri manna ‘men’s victory’ (ll. 3, 4) together.
