Voru þá fallnir allir hinir mestu fjandmenn hans en sumir flýðir úr landi og var það allmikill mannfjöldi því þá byggðust stór eyðilönd. Þá byggðist Jamtaland og Helsingjaland og var þó áður hvorttveggja nokkuð byggt af Norðmönnum. Í þeim ófriði er Haraldur konungur gekk til lands í Noregi þá fundust og byggðust útlönd, Færeyjar og Ísland. Þá var og mikil ferð til Hjaltlands og margir ríkismenn af Noregi flýðu útlaga fyrir Haraldi konungi og fóru í vesturvíking, voru í Orkneyjum og Suðureyjum á vetrum en á sumrum herjuðu þeir í Noreg og gerðu þar mikinn landsskaða. Margir voru þeir og ríkismenn er gengu til handa Haraldi konungi og gerðust hans menn og byggðu lönd með honum.
